What Are Fusion Extensions?

A woman with red hair holds an iPad while another woman smiles behind her in a modern salon

Fusion extensions use a specialized tool to fuse individual keratin-tipped strands directly to small sections of your natural hair. The keratin bond blends almost invisibly at the root, making this one of the most natural-looking extension methods available.

Unlike weft extensions, which are repositioned as your hair grows, Fusions are fully removed and replaced with a fresh set every three to four months. For guests who love the idea of brand-new hair on a regular schedule, this is a significant advantage.

Who Fusions work best for:

  • Guests wanting a seamless, strand-by-strand result with minimal visibility
  • Those who prefer a set-it-and-forget-it maintenance rhythm
  • Hair that benefits from individual placement rather than row-based coverage

Your Consultation

Every Fusion install starts with a thorough assessment of your hair type, density, and goals. Your stylist will determine the right number of strands and the best color match for a seamless blend.

You’ll leave with a clear plan and a full quote, so no surprises.

Your Install

On transformation day, individual keratin-tipped strands are fused to your natural hair section by section using a specialized heat tool.

The process is precise and methodical, and the result is extensions that move, feel, and look like your own hair. Every install includes a shampoo, blowout, blending, and finishing style.

Your Maintenance

Fusions are fully replaced rather than reinstalled, which means your maintenance appointments involve a complete removal followed by a fresh set.

Removal is complimentary for Crown Society members. Your stylist will recommend a replacement schedule at your consultation, typically every three to four months.

What is the difference between Light, Medium, and Full Fusions?

The tiers refer to the number of individual strands applied, which determines the amount of volume, coverage, and length you’ll achieve.

  • Light Fusions are ideal for adding subtle volume or blending into naturally fine hair with minimal weight.
  • Medium Fusions suit guests wanting a noticeable increase in volume and length across a range of hair densities.
  • Full Fusions provide maximum coverage and transformation, best suited to guests wanting a dramatic change in length or density.

Your stylist will assess your natural hair at your consultation and recommend the tier that will give you the result you’re after.

How long do Fusion extensions last before they need to be replaced?

Fusionextensions are typically replaced every three to four months.

Unlike weft extensions, which can be repositioned as your hair grows, Fusions are fully removed and a fresh set is applied at each maintenance appointment. This means you’re always wearing new hair, which many guests consider one of the method’s biggest advantages.

Does the keratin bond damage my natural hair?

When applied and removed correctly, no. The keratin used in Fusion extensions is designed to bond gently to the hair shaft without compromising its integrity.

The key is proper application technique and professional removal. Never attempt to remove Fusions at home.

Every stylist at Delta Crown is Crown Standard-certified, which includes training specifically in safe Fusion application and removal.

Can I use heat tools on my Fusion extensions?

Yes, with care. Fusion extensions are made from real hair and can be styled with heat tools the same way you would style your natural hair.

Always use a heat protectant before styling, and avoid applying direct heat to the keratin bonds themselves. Prolonged heat exposure near the bonds can weaken them over time.

Your stylist will walk you through a full styling guide at your install.

What happens between replacement appointments if I notice fallout or a bond feels loose?

Come in and see us. Minor Fusion upkeep between appointments is available at Delta Crown for a small fee, and members receive complimentary upkeep sessions as part of their Crown Society membership.

If you’re noticing significant fallout before your scheduled replacement, it’s worth a conversation with your stylist sooner rather than later. It’s usually a quick fix.
